Overactive Technician – Johannesburg Central

About the role

The Overactive Technician will be dispatched to sites with high rates of false alarms, diagnosing and correcting issues to improve system reliability and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong technical expertise, on‑site problem solving, and clear communication with clients.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with customers to understand performance and protection requirements of their alarm systems.
• Assess existing installations, identify shortcomings and root causes of false alarms.
• Present and agree on corrective solutions that meet business objectives and customer expectations.
• Perform on‑site checks: battery health, signal testing, wiring quality, equipment placement, and programming accuracy.
• Provide guidance on new technologies or equipment that could enhance system performance.
• Maintain service standards, ensuring neat wiring, correct charging, and proper fault finding on every call.

Required profile

• PSIRA Grade C registration and a valid driver’s licence.
• 3–5 years of technical experience with alarm systems, especially IDS and DSC panels.
• Strong analytical skills to identify false‑alarm triggers.
• Customer‑focused attitude with good written and verbal communication.
