Outsourced Senior Payroll Officer

About the role

Acumen Payroll Services, an outsourced payroll partner serving clients in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos and beyond, is hiring a Senior Payroll Officer. The role is permanent and remote, with ad-hoc in-office days scheduled throughout the year. It covers accurate and timely payroll processing for clients, including payroll taxes, benefits and statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time, including gross-to-net calculations, terminations, onboarding, wages, bonuses, overtime, deductions and other factors
• Maintain and update the payroll system and issue payslips or process direct deposits
• Apply country rules and statutory requirements, and calculate and track payroll taxes, health insurance, social insurance, pension and other statutory items
• Manage the quarterly payroll tax filing process and load payments to clients' counterparties
• Keep accurate payroll records and employee data in line with data privacy and security regulations
• Generate payroll reports, review medium to high-risk client reports, analyse payroll data and reconcile payroll accounts
• Resolve payroll discrepancies, errors and issues, and assist with internal and external audits
• Manage a portfolio of medium to high-risk clients, liaising with them and the team
• Use payroll software and tools such as ZOHO and O365, and mentor junior team members

Required profile

• Diploma or tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree) in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 5 to 6 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably managing multiple payrolls
• Ability to work autonomously, under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication, and strict confidentiality with sensitive payroll data

Required skills

• Payroll software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
• Strong numeric acumen and attention to detail
