About the role
The Cellar Operator I is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of barrels and tanks within the production cellar. This role supports daily operations, sample preparation, and inventory control while adhering to company procedures and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Load and off‑load barrels, and physically fill or empty them during maturation processes.
- Transfer product between tanks and manage tank take‑up procedures.
- Assist with daily and weekly reconciliations as needed.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and organoleptic assessment, and classify them appropriately.
- Participate in the monthly bulk stock‑take process.
- Maintain accurate records, ensure cellar hygiene, and apply strict loss‑control measures.
- Draw and test production tank samples following standard procedures.
- Engage in TPM Level 1 activities and contribute to problem‑solving initiatives.
Required profile
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and housekeeping standards (advantageous).
- Willingness to work overtime and perform ad‑hoc duties across departments.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills, punctuality, and reliable attendance.
- Completion of SKOP courses is advantageous.
