Operations Officer (Bulk & Commercial Waste Management)

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting an Operations Officer for its Bulk & Commercial Waste Management operations depot. The role covers managing the depot's operational processes, planning vehicle routes, maintaining administrative procedures and supervising the waste management services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage short-, medium- and long-term operational processes within the Waste Management operations depot
• Coordinate the activities of the various sub-services within the depot to use resources optimally
• Plan vehicle routes to balance activities and distribute work and vehicles equally
• Maintain the administrative processes of the depot
• Balance productivity against workload and plan for operational requirements
• Identify training needs for personnel and enforce discipline when required
• Supervise the application of council policies and improve work relationships
• Plan activities that expand service provision and generate revenue for the Municipality
• Keep services cost-effective and control income versus expenditure within the section
• Manage the depot's fleet and ensure efficient refuse removal services
• Maintain good relationships and liaison with stakeholders

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate
• National Diploma in Environmental Management, Environmental Health or Waste Management, or an equivalent NQF 6 qualification
• Valid Code B driver's licence
• 3 years of relevant experience
