Operations Manager - Zimbabwe

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, sea and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent Operations Manager for Zimbabwe. The role oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the company in Zimbabwe, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, driving process improvements and implementing strategies to meet the company's goals.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of all departments, ensuring efficiency and adherence to established processes.
• Maintain efficient operational systems with optimal resource allocation and productivity.
• Manage and monitor inventory, procurement and logistics so that goods and materials are received and distributed efficiently.
• Lead, mentor and manage the operations team, hire, train and develop staff, and conduct performance appraisals with clear objectives.
• Evaluate processes for improvement, introduce new technologies and software, and collaborate with other departments.
• Develop and manage the operational budget for Zimbabwe, control costs and review financial reports to assess profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field; a master's degree or professional certifications.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the same or a related industry.
• Proven experience in team leadership, process improvement and budget management.
• Strong understanding of local regulations and compliance requirements in Zimbabwe.
