Operations Manager – Transport & Logistics

About the role

The Operations Manager will report directly to the Chief Executive and lead the entire Transport and Logistics function. This senior role requires deep operational expertise to drive efficiency, profitability, compliance and service excellence across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on leadership and technical oversight for all transport and logistics activities.
• Analyse operational performance, identify inefficiencies and hold teams accountable for results.
• Implement cost‑saving and productivity‑enhancing initiatives to meet budgeted PBIT and Net Working Capital targets.
• Ensure compliance with legal, health, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate sub‑systems including Operations, Marketing and Administration for optimal resource utilisation.
• Oversee performance management, learning, succession planning and recruitment processes.
• Drive transformation plans, diversity, employee engagement and a fair, inclusive work environment.
• Manage document control, wage‑sheet accuracy and disciplinary procedures in partnership with HR.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in transport and logistics operations.
• Proven ability to lead large operational teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of financial metrics such as PBIT and Net Working Capital.
• Knowledge of compliance, health and safety regulations.
• Experience with performance management, talent development and transformation initiatives.
