Operations Manager – Service Operations (Gqeberha, South Africa)

About the role

Vestas is seeking an Operations Manager to lead its service operations in Gqeberha, South Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance of the South African wind‑turbine fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technicians, supervisors and support functions to deliver high‑quality maintenance.
• Manage operational performance across KPIs such as availability, LPF reduction, quality, productivity and cost control.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and fulfil contractual obligations.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives across service sites.
• Oversee planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Control operational budgets, forecasting and reporting.
• Support recruitment, performance management and employee development.
• Collaborate with regional functions including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, HSE and Finance.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in operations management, field service or industrial maintenance.
• Proven ability to manage technical teams in a high‑risk industrial environment.
• Solid understanding of maintenance methodologies and operational processes.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Management or a related field.
• Knowledge of South African labour legislation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with data‑driven reporting tools.
