Operations & Maintenance Manager – Renewable Energy

About the role

The Operations and Maintenance Manager will lead the performance and reliability of a large‑scale renewable energy facility in De Aar, Northern Cape. This senior position oversees utility‑scale solar PV and battery storage assets, ensuring safety, compliance and optimal output.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all O&M activities to maximise plant performance and reliability.
• Manage site personnel, supervisors, contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, technical and regulatory requirements.
• Drive Health, Safety and Environmental excellence across the site.
• Monitor plant performance, investigate faults and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Coordinate plant upgrades, optimisation initiatives and post‑EPC close‑out activities.
• Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, clients and internal teams.

Required profile

• BSc Engineering, BTech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Qualified Electrician with GMR 2.1 certification.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
• Proven experience on utility‑scale renewable projects (≥50 MW), preferably solar or wind.
• Strong leadership, contractor management and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
