Operations Director – Fibre Supply Chain

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to own and optimise the end‑to‑end fibre supply operations in the Eastern Cape. This senior leadership position will drive efficiency, cost optimisation and scalable performance across a fast‑growing, entrepreneurial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the fibre supply value chain, meeting quality, volume and cost targets.
• Design and implement operating plans for harvesting, transport, contractor coordination, quality assurance and supply‑chain flow.
• Establish structured systems for planning, tracking, reporting and performance oversight.
• Identify and execute process‑streamlining opportunities to improve efficiency and cost control.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with contractors, logistics providers and suppliers.
• Define performance metrics and translate operational data into actionable insights via dashboards.
• Lead forecasting and resource allocation to balance supply requirements with capacity.
• Anticipate operational challenges and implement mitigation strategies.
• Build, mentor and develop a high‑performing operations team.
• Partner with executive leadership to ensure operations are scalable and aligned with strategic growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Business or related field.
• 5‑10 years of operational leadership experience, preferably in consulting, international corporate or similar environments.
• Strong analytical ability and experience managing complex processes, stakeholders and teams.
• Experience in forestry, agriculture, biomass, natural resources, logistics or related sectors is preferred.
• Proven capability to manage contractors and third‑party service providers.
