Continuous Improvement Engineer – Agriculture Operations

About the role

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will support Sovereign’s Agriculture division by driving process optimisation, waste reduction and renewable‑energy initiatives across poultry production facilities. Reporting to the Southern Operations Manager, the role combines technical expertise, data analysis and stakeholder training to enhance energy efficiency and environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and implement process optimisation and waste‑reduction opportunities in heating and utilities to lower operating costs.
• Lead the adoption of alternate and renewable energy solutions (wind, solar, heating) within the agricultural department.
• Perform data analytics using SKOV Environmental Control systems to monitor performance.
• Train end‑users on poultry environmental management controllers and maintain relationships with OEM suppliers.
• Provide technical advice to SKOV technicians and electrical artisans, and develop technical SOPs and training materials.
• Maintain a contact matrix with external service providers such as municipal utilities and Eskom.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or BTech Engineering.
• Minimum five years of experience in control‑systems optimisation, renewable‑energy projects and electrical‑maintenance environments.
• Strong communication skills and an innovative, inquisitive approach to continuous improvement.
• Ability to plan, organise and lead technical training initiatives.
