Ocean Imports Controller – South Africa

About the role

CEVA Logistics is looking for an experienced Ocean Imports Controller to oversee end‑to‑end ocean freight operations in Durban. The role focuses on coordinating import shipments, ensuring customs compliance, and delivering high‑quality service to clients across the international supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and track purchase orders, create import shipments in ISA/manual entry, and maintain accurate shipment files.
• Prepare hard‑copy and electronic shipment folders, update milestones in Matrix OFS and Navigator, and send arrival notices to consignees.
• Verify shipping documents (waybills, manifests, invoices, packing lists) and upload commercial invoices to designated systems.
• Ensure customs clearance compliance, report manifests to customs via Cargowise RCG, and submit Advanced Loading Notices.
• Coordinate cargo release with carriers/NVOCCs, obtain delivery orders, and manage freight release requirements.
• Process invoicing, third‑party payments, and capture accruals aligned with buy rates and global tariffs.
• Plan delivery to CEVA warehouses or directly to consignees, create transport orders, and upload signed PODs to ONEScan.
• Provide continuous updates to customers and internal teams throughout the shipment lifecycle.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented logistics professional with strong client‑facing experience.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Solid understanding of customs regulations and import documentation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
