Occupational Health Technician – Audiometry, Spirometry & Vision

About the role

Care Net Consultants is seeking an Occupational Health Technician to perform on‑site and clinic‑based health screenings for workers in mining, manufacturing, construction and logistics. You will conduct audiometry, spirometry and vision tests, record vital signs and support drug‑and‑alcohol testing under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Health Nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out occupational health screenings including audiometry, spirometry, vision assessment, vital signs, height, weight and BMI.
• Perform drug and alcohol testing following SOPs and chain‑of‑custody procedures.
• Enter all results in real‑time into the online portal and maintain accurate audit trails.
• Conduct daily equipment checks, calibration logs and report any faults within 24 hours.
• Observe infection‑control standards: hand hygiene, PPE, sharps disposal and surface disinfection.
• Travel to client sites for on‑site medicals, including early starts and occasional overnight stays.
• Handle patient information in compliance with POPIA and escalate abnormal findings to the supervising nurse.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with current certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry and Vision Screening from a SASOHN‑accredited provider.
• At least 2 years of experience conducting occupational health screenings.
• Valid Code B/10 driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Fluent English (additional South African languages advantageous).
• Computer literate – proficient with Microsoft 365 and electronic medical record systems.
