Nurse Manager

About the role

The Nurse Manager will lead the nursing function at Life Brenthurst Hospital, reporting to the Hospital Manager. This senior role is responsible for aligning nursing operations with the hospital’s strategic goals of growth, quality, and people development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinical outcomes and ensure optimal nursing operations through risk assessment, strategy development, and multidisciplinary reviews.
• Drive compliance with Life Healthcare Clinical (LHC) standards and improve quality metrics and accreditation systems.
• Manage the nursing budget, monitor labour spend, and implement value‑based care initiatives.
• Participate in hospital management committees, recruit, retain, motivate and develop nursing staff.
• Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent nursing in community marketing activities.
• Lead governance and risk‑management processes to maintain ethical and transparent departmental operations.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing (midwifery qualification essential).
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
• Relevant clinical experience and proven leadership in private healthcare.
• Basic understanding of labour legislation and business principles.
• Post‑graduate qualification or Health Services Management qualification is advantageous.
