Newly Admitted Attorney – Tax Advisory

About the role

We are a leading independent tax advisory firm seeking a newly admitted attorney to join our specialised tax team in Johannesburg. This role offers the chance to develop deep technical expertise in a focused area of tax law while working alongside industry‑leading experts on complex local and international matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review tax opinions, submissions and legal arguments.
• Engage with SARS on audits, verifications, objections and appeals.
• Work on complex advisory and structuring matters.
• Interpret and apply tax legislation to real commercial scenarios.
• Collaborate with tax specialists, accountants and senior advisors.
• Prepare and review legal documentation relating to complex tax matters.
• Engage with regulatory authorities where required.
• Stay abreast of legislative developments and emerging tax issues.
• Contribute to technical discussions, client solutions and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
• Conduct legal research and analyse complex tax legislation, regulations and case law.

Required profile

• Admitted attorney with a clear interest in tax law.
• Comfortable in a high‑performance, accountability‑driven environment.
• Excellent legal research, drafting and analytical abilities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Intellectually curious and driven to become a recognised specialist.
