Network Administrator

About the role

AIDC, a government-owned public entity supporting the South African automotive industry, is recruiting a Network Administrator for its ICT Department in the Automotive Supplier Park offices at Rosslyn and Satellite Sites. The post reports directly to the Senior Network Engineer and is offered on a permanent employment contract with a three-month probation period.

Key responsibilities

• Network support: receive and log network, data and voice calls and enquiries, provide second-line support and escalate to third line where needed
• Helpdesk operations: follow the ticket process, complete tickets with full descriptions and provide reports to managers
• Monitor network connectivity and performance against SLAs
• VoIP support: support the Cisco Call Manager, configure and maintain phones, set up voice mail and after-hours messaging on clients' phones
• WAN and LAN: install and configure switch ports, maintain routers, access points and switches, run monthly updates, back up devices and implement VoIP, LAN and WAN projects
• Coach interns and colleagues

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a National Diploma in IT Communications Networks or a related field
• Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in a WAN/LAN environment
• Preference given to people with different abilities, women and previously disadvantaged individuals

Required skills

• N+ certification
• CCNA and CCNA-Voice
• ITIL/COBIT is an advantage
