National Key Accounts Manager

About the role

The National Key Accounts Manager will lead the strategic and commercial management of I&J’s two largest national accounts – Pick n Pay and Spar. Based at the head office in Woodstock, Cape Town, you will be responsible for driving sustainable growth, profitability and category leadership for our premium seafood portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the national account strategy for Pick n Pay and Spar, aligned with I&J’s growth objectives.
• Lead Joint Business Planning (JBP) processes, setting volume, value and category targets.
• Establish a structured engagement rhythm with operational, category and executive meetings, using clear agendas and scorecards.
• Own the P&L for each account, meeting sales, volume, gross margin and profitability targets.
• Negotiate annual trading terms, price adjustments and promotional investments.
• Manage discounts, rebates and trade spend to maximise ROI.
• Produce accurate sales forecasts and monitor delivery against budget.
• Collaborate with marketing and category teams to develop trade‑marketing and sales plans that close budget gaps.
• Partner with the retailers to grow frozen fish and protein categories, influencing assortment, shelf space and distribution.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing national key accounts in the FMCG or food sector.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering profitable growth.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills across all organisational levels.
• Ability to analyse data, forecast demand and make data‑driven decisions.
