Municipal Positions – Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality

About the role

Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality is inviting internal and external applicants for a range of senior and specialised positions within the Office of the Municipal Manager and Technical Services departments. The roles include Senior Public Participation Officer, Manager Water Services, Laboratory Technician, Chief Electrical Engineer (re‑advert), and Senior Building Control Officer. All positions are permanent except the Chief Electrical Engineer which is a five‑year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support Ward Committee activities, public participation and community engagement.
• Oversee water and sewer system operations, maintenance of pump stations and treatment plants.
• Conduct laboratory analyses, water quality testing and maintain a sanitary work environment.
• Plan, manage and supervise electrical infrastructure projects and ensure compliance with OHS and SANS regulations.
• Ensure building plans comply with legislation, conduct inspections and coordinate with inspectors.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a valid driver’s licence.
• Relevant NQF‑level diploma or degree (Public Administration, Engineering, Biotechnology, Building/Civil Engineering, etc.).
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, with managerial experience where indicated.
• Preparedness for security clearance.
• Computer literacy.
