About the role
The Mowing/Machine Operator will maintain open‑space landscapes by operating a range of horticultural and mowing equipment. This position supports the university’s grounds‑keeping team in delivering safe, attractive, and well‑maintained outdoor areas.
Key responsibilities
- Operate mowing and related horticultural equipment efficiently and safely.
- Apply herbicides in accordance with legislative and internal guidelines.
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental procedures while on site.
- Store and manage tools and equipment responsibly, adhering to operational protocols.
Required profile
- Physical fitness to handle demanding outdoor work.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work comfortably in noisy environments.
Required skills
- Mowing equipment operation (certificate required).
- First Aid Level 1 certification (preferred).
- Herbicide application certification (preferred).
- Tractor licence (preferred).
- Chainsaw or woodchipper certification (preferred).
