Mixing Pharmacist – Oncology Pharmacy

About the role
Dis-Chem Oncology is seeking a qualified Mixing Pharmacist to join its Constantiaberg Haematology site. The pharmacist will be responsible for the safe and accurate preparation of chemotherapy treatments, ensuring compliance with oncology protocols, Good Pharmacy Practice standards, and company policies while delivering high‑quality patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Capture and claim prescriptions promptly to enable same‑day medication mixing and administration.
- Assist head office with patient levy collection and ensure all levies are invoiced and paid before medication release.
- Verify that required stock is delivered at least one day prior to treatment and that patient stock is complete.
- Compound medication according to the doctor’s script and package insert, adhering to service‑level timelines and minimizing waste.
- Provide site staff with information on adverse drug reactions and keep doctors informed of stock shortages.
- Maintain correct storage conditions for bulk and patient stock per GPP standards.
- Arrange annual laminar‑flow hood services and ensure proper pharmaceutical waste disposal.
- Apply FEFO principles to consignment stock and report short‑dated stock to head office.
Required profile
- Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Previous experience in chemotherapy preparation and mixing.
