Metallurgical Process Technician/Engineer

About the role

This position supports a leading manufacturer of mineral processing equipment by delivering technical expertise in metallurgical testing, equipment commissioning and client support. Based in Johannesburg, the role combines laboratory work, field visits and project management to ensure optimal performance of flotation and magnetic separation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute laboratory and pilot‑scale metallurgical test programs, analyse results and produce clear reports.
• Support installation, commissioning, operation, troubleshooting and optimisation of flotation and related processing equipment at customer sites.
• Conduct sampling campaigns, prepare samples for analysis and accurately record technical test data.
• Prepare technical reports, commercial proposals, equipment recommendations and project documentation within agreed timelines.
• Assist with the full lifecycle of customer projects, from proposal development and test planning to contract support and final presentations.
• Provide technical support to clients by identifying process improvements, resolving operational issues and recommending innovative solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, operating procedures and best practices while contributing to operating manuals, training materials and process flowsheets.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Process, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant metallurgical or mineral processing experience.
• Proven experience executing laboratory and pilot‑scale test campaigns.
• Exposure to industrial mineral processing plants, especially flotation and magnetic separation processes.
• Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally to customer sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong data analysis and technical reporting abilities.
