Merchandiser – New Store (Gonubie, East London)

About the role

Dis-Chem is opening a new store in Gonubie, East London and needs a motivated Merchandiser to uphold its merchandising standards and deliver excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Restock shelves and ensure the full product range is always available.
• Rotate stock using FIFO, monitor sell‑by dates and report expired or damaged items.
• Maintain planograms, label pricing correctly and flatten boxes after unpacking.
• Report low stock, out‑of‑stock and price discrepancies to management.
• Assist with stock counting, loading/unloading, and back‑shopping activities.
• Build and maintain merchandising displays and keep the store tidy.
• Provide friendly, helpful assistance to customers and follow up on out‑of‑stock queries.
• Support training of new staff and adhere to health, safety and company policies.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Up to 6 months retail experience (advantageous: at least 1 year).
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Strong command of English, presentable and trustworthy.
• Advantageous: bilingual, knowledge of FMCG merchandising standards and ability to analyse ZMORE reports.
