Meeting & Events Coordinator (Cape Town)

About the role

The Meeting & Events Coordinator will act as the primary host for groups arriving at the Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers, ensuring every banquet and event runs smoothly from start to finish. You will liaise with guests, internal teams and external suppliers to deliver a seamless experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet group coordinators/hosts before functions, make introductions and confirm arrangements.
• Read and analyse banquet event orders to determine set‑up, timelines, guest requirements, buffet and action station details.
• Coordinate and fulfil special banquet requests, following up to ensure compliance.
• Maintain safety and security standards, report incidents and complete required training.
• Welcome guests, anticipate service needs and provide courteous, professional assistance.
• Answer telephone enquiries using proper etiquette and maintain confidentiality of guest information.
• Support team members to achieve shared goals and uphold quality standards.
• Perform physical duties such as moving, lifting (≤25 lb), standing, walking and navigating stairs or uneven surfaces throughout the shift.

• Professional appearance with clean uniform and nametag.
• Ability to read and verify information in various formats, including small print.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow company policies and procedures.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, lift and maneuver in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills, using clear and professional language.
