Mechatronic/Electronic System Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leader in engineering manufacturing, is looking for a Mechatronic/Electronic System Engineer to join the team in Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on designing and documenting electrical systems for off‑highway vehicles and managing engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and document electrical systems and harness architectures for off‑highway vehicles.
• Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) documentation.
• Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams and interface with CAD tools.
• Perform system integration and functional verification on production‑level vehicles.
• Participate in DFMEA activities.
• Use Microsoft Visio to produce and update wiring diagrams and control unit layouts.
• Support ERP processes related to engineering and production workflows.
• Contribute to project control activities, including progress tracking, reporting and coordination of deliverables.
• Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and ensure accurate implementation and documentation.
• Oversee data‑pack management and verification to meet project and customer requirements.

Required profile

• BEng in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control unit layouts.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Previous experience in project control or technical documentation is an advantage.
