Senior Toolmaker (Plastics Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Toolmaker to join our plastics manufacturing team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing moulds, producing engineering components, and supporting toolroom operations within a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on injection moulds.
• Manufacture and refurbish engineering components and dies.
• Operate toolroom machinery and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Provide input on mould design and assist with prototype development.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Train, mentor and supervise apprentices.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP standards and complete related administrative reporting.

Required profile

• Matric certificate and N2 qualification.
• Red Seal Trade Test – Tool, Jig & Die Maker.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of plastics processing and mould maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
