Mechanical Engineer – Sales & Business Development

About the role

Our client in Port Elizabeth is looking for a driven Mechanical Engineer with a strong sales focus to grow the customer base across the Eastern Cape. The role combines technical knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems with business development, acting as a trusted advisor to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve and exceed sales targets within the assigned territory.
• Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with existing customers while identifying new business opportunities.
• Manage customer accounts, provide high‑level service and support, and act as the primary point of contact.
• Prepare accurate quotations, proposals and sales forecasts using CRM and ERP systems.
• Deliver technical and commercial solutions tailored to client needs, including geared motors, electrical drives and automation systems.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments, reporting insights to management.
• Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions and customer events.
• Participate in rotational after‑hours support duties as required.

Required profile

• Mechanical or Electrical degree (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years experience in external sales within the mechanical/electrical industry.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with SAP.
• Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of geared motors, electrical drives, automation and integrated electrical systems.
