Mechanical Engineer – Plastic Packaging Production

About the role

Our client, a leading manufacturer of high‑quality rigid plastic packaging, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to production and drive engineering projects. You will ensure that manufacturing processes deliver consistent, high‑quality products across personal care, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and household sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Industrialise and maintain product processes to achieve reliable startups and sustainable production.
• Gather and analyse data to support production processes and engineering initiatives.
• Monitor machine reliability, implement corrective actions, and control scrap to meet quality targets.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, GMP, and Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) requirements.
• Train setting and processing teams on best practices and new systems.
• Manage inventory of technical supplies, order equipment, and maintain detailed process records.
• Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards in the work area.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Clear criminal record and sober habits.
• Experience with blow‑moulding processes.
• Ability to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
