Power Systems Engineer – Renewable Energy Focus

About the role

Zutari is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to lead dynamic system modelling and impact analysis for renewable energy technologies across Africa. The role involves close interaction with ISOs, utilities and internal stakeholders to ensure grid‑code compliance and optimal system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage dynamic system modelling studies, including electromagnetic transient analysis for inverter‑based generation such as wind, solar and storage.
• Present modelling recommendations and results to ISOs and utilities, influencing grid integration strategies.
• Define best practices for power‑system studies, covering steady‑state, stability and dynamic performance.
• Conduct specialist studies such as insulation coordination, protection coordination, loss calculations and power‑quality assessments.
• Review technical reports and provide independent evaluations for client projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably specialised in power systems.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including stakeholder interaction and delivery of grid‑code compliance studies.
• Strong analytical thinking and excellent documentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMT simulation software.
• Experience using PSSE, PSLF, ASPEN, DSATools, Powerworld, EMTDC/PSCAD, EMTP RV, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and ETAP.
