Mechanical Engineer – Lean (Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with a strong Lean mindset to work on the factory floor of our corrugated converting plant. You will collaborate closely with operators, artisans, production and maintenance teams to boost safety, reliability, productivity and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Own mechanical performance and drive continuous improvement of production lines.
• Design, build, modify and optimise manufacturing equipment to eliminate waste.
• Lead low‑cost “Moonshine” projects before major capital spend.
• Identify and simplify equipment, reduce maintenance effort and improve reliability.
• Work with OEMs, challenge conventional solutions and propose better alternatives.
• Specify motors, gearboxes, drives, bearings and structural components.
• Scope, cost and execute improvement projects from concept to commissioning.
• Support installation, commissioning and optimisation of new equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, eliminate root causes and share best practices across sites.
• Maintain engineering documentation and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience.
• Experience in corrugated packaging, FMCG, automotive, mining or similar production environments.
• Proven ability to work hands‑on with operators, artisans, electricians and suppliers.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
