Mechanical Design Engineer – Johannesburg

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering environment in Johannesburg. You will take products from concept through implementation, influencing high‑quality product and manufacturing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and manufacturing tooling.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, technical documentation and specifications.
• Support prototyping, testing and product improvement activities.
• Conduct engineering analyses to verify performance, reliability and compliance.
• Participate in design reviews, risk management and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement and project teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 8) – essential.
• Relevant experience in mechanical design and tooling development.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and manage design risks.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
