Mechanical Design Engineer (3-6 yrs experience)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience to join an international development company based in Durbanville, Cape Town. The role involves creating complete product designs from first principles and enhancing existing product ranges for commercial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed CAD models and presentation material for new product concepts.
• Generate manufacturing and supplier part drawings ready for release to production and purchasing.
• Coordinate prototype fabrication, testing, and documentation of design modifications.
• Implement design improvements and upgrades for existing products.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance.

Required profile

• BTech, BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum three years of hands‑on mechanical design experience.
• Strong understanding of product development cycles.
• Only South African citizens may apply.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling.
• Familiarity with Siemens NX is desirable.
