Material Testing Lab Technician

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Materials Testing Laboratory Technician to join our R&D team. You will support the development of innovative construction materials and advanced structural systems through rigorous testing and data analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct destructive and non‑destructive testing on concrete, composite and steel specimens.
• Prepare, cast, cure and manage test specimens in line with industry standards.
• Assist engineering teams with prototype assembly and structural load testing.
• Accurately record, analyse and report test results to inform product development and quality assurance.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory testing equipment to ensure reliable performance.
• Manage laboratory consumables, inventory and maintain a safe, clean, organised workspace.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in a construction materials or engineering testing laboratory.
• Strong understanding of SANS, ASTM and ISO testing standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• National Diploma, BTech or BSc in Civil Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• South African residency or a valid work permit.
