Material Handling Equipment Assistant

About the role

The Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Assistant supports the MHE Manager in overseeing forklift and golf‑cart operations across the Sedibeng site. You will ensure equipment is safe, compliant and maintained to meet the business’s strategic and safety objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor tyre replacements for forklifts and golf carts and report updates.
• Conduct regular inspections of forklifts, golf carts and chargers.
• Track PDS operations, log defects and coordinate repairs.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and ensure quality workmanship.
• Perform safety compliance checks on all MHE assets.
• Coordinate inspections, repairs and maintenance with internal staff and external vendors.
• Prepare forklifts for load‑test certification and support audit activities.

Required profile

• 3‑year tertiary qualification in Supply Chain & Logistics or a related field.
• 1–2 years experience in a logistics or material‑handling environment.
• Physically fit and able to work in a workshop setting.
• Strong organisational ability and moderate administrative skills.
• Good verbal and written communication.
