Manager – Budget & Reporting

About the role

The Municipality is seeking a Manager for Budget & Reporting to lead its budgeting and financial reporting functions. This senior position oversees the preparation, consolidation and compliance of the municipal budget and financial statements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Budget Office and act as creditor to the Finance Committee.
• Verify and upload HR‑budgeted salary and allowance amounts using the SAGE system.
• Compile, consolidate and monitor the municipal budget, ensuring compliance with the compliance register and budget control procedures.
• Reconcile debtor/creditor inventories, bank and cash books, investments and external loans to support year‑end financial statements.
• Support SDBIP monitoring, capital and operating budgeting processes and performance assessments.

Required profile

• B.Com degree in Accounting/Cost Accounting (or equivalent) and at least three years municipal budgeting experience.
• Valid driver’s licence; MFMP qualification is an advantage.
• Strong communication, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MSCOA.
• Experience using the SAGE financial system.
