Maintenance Assistant (Handyman)

About the role

The Handyman will join Heineken Beverages' Engineering department at Wadeville Production, ensuring that all buildings, equipment and facilities remain in optimal condition. The role combines routine maintenance, quick repairs and preventive work to support safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, basic welding).
• Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to spot issues or risks.
• Troubleshoot and fix faulty systems such as fixtures, doors, windows, ceilings and appliances.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns.
• Install and assemble furniture, fixtures and small equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Keep work areas clean and organised after tasks.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs.
• Perform scoping activities and develop bills of materials.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar maintenance role.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling and general building maintenance.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Good physical condition for manual labour.
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Effective communication skills.
• Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
