Machine Repairs: Shift Fitter

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Shift Fitter to join the Machine Repairs team at our Bellville factory. Reporting to the Machine Services Foreman, you will support the Forming Department and ensure the efficient operation of IS bottle‑making machines and related hot‑end equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and execute mechanical job changes and process conversions on IS bottle‑making machines.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns, performing fault finding and repairs.
• Rework variable equipment, mechanisms and components to maintain machine performance.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards on the production floor.
• Rotate as Shift Fitter across shifts as required.
• Monitor plant inspections and uphold engineering best practices.
• Use SAP Maintenance to track work orders and improve maintenance planning.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal customers, especially the Forming Department.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / N3 Mechanical qualification; Fitter trade tested.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a FMCG environment, preferably with IS machines.
• Experience in welding and a solid understanding of pneumatics and basic fitting.
• Ability to coordinate job changes and influence team members.
