Logistics Planner (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position is responsible for using route optimisation and planning software to create efficient daily route schedules, reduce distribution costs and provide visibility across multiple business verticals.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure planning department submissions are on time and communicate loading, timing and changes with dispatch teams.
• Collect feedback, document non‑compliance and escalate issues to the Senior Planning Manager.
• Assist planners, dispatch, drivers and service providers with solutions and manage unplanned orders, emergencies and deviations.
• Receive orders, assess feasibility and determine the best execution solution, considering supplier allocation and combined orders.
• Procure 3PL transporters in line with group targets and manage cost alignment with logistics procurement.
• Verify loading plans, submit them to dispatch and stakeholders, and reconcile planner schedules with system data daily.
• Execute plan changes, ensure compliance with change requests and provide feedback on customer delivery requirements.
• Compile key indicator reports, complete daily dashboards and flag uneconomical shipments for review.
• Monitor route optimisation tool for inefficiencies and resolve them.
• Facilitate daily planning meetings with the Agriculture team to ensure operational continuity.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field (NQF Level 6).
• Working knowledge of logistics management principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
