Logistics Operations Manager

About the role

PINDULO VDM is seeking a hands‑on Logistics Operations Manager to lead its Saldanha transport team. The role will oversee fleet control, ensure operational efficiency and deliver safe, customer‑focused transport solutions in line with service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operations of the fleet control division.
• Drive fleet utilisation, productivity and service delivery standards.
• Support and hold Fleet Controllers accountable for performance and continuous improvement.
• Plan and execute load schedules to meet operational and customer requirements.
• Own operational challenges such as delays, breakdowns and service escalations.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety standards and client requirements.
• Monitor KPIs, implement corrective actions and produce accurate operational reports.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, drivers, service providers and internal departments.
• Identify cost‑control opportunities and improve profitability.
• Support employee development, performance management and disciplinary processes.

Required profile

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 (essential); tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management or Supply Chain Management is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• 5–7 years experience in transport operations or fleet management.
• 2–3 years experience in a supervisory or management role within logistics.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Proficiency with Outlook.
• Experience with transport management systems.
• Experience with reporting platforms.
• Familiarity with vehicle tracking and fleet management systems.
