Litigation Attorney

About the role

A leading law firm in Monument Park, Pretoria, is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its Commercial Litigation Department. The role involves providing expert legal advice, managing High Court litigation, and representing clients in complex commercial disputes from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on commercial litigation matters and advise clients on risk and dispute resolution.
• Manage High Court litigation from inception through finalisation, including drafting and filing pleadings, motions, affidavits and briefs.
• Prepare legal opinions, correspondence and supporting documentation.
• Brief and liaise with advocates and other legal professionals as required.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research on legislation, case law and regulatory developments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and best‑practice standards.
• Collaborate with a team of legal professionals to develop effective solutions.

Required profile

• LLB degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in good standing with the Legal Practice Council.
• 5‑7 years post‑articles experience as an admitted Attorney.
• Proven expertise in commercial litigation and extensive experience handling High Court matters.
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong project‑management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
