Legal Manager – Office of the General Counsel

About the role

The Manager – Office of the General Counsel supports PwC’s client‑facing and internal teams throughout the contracting lifecycle. Reporting to the Associate Director of Contracting, the role applies commercial principles, relevant law and internal policies to mitigate legal risk for the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including NDAs, client services, supplier, sponsorship, licensing and technology contracts.
• Provide practical legal advice on contract interpretation, legislation and regulation affecting PwC’s service lines.
• Identify, assess and advise on potential legal or reputational risks.
• Conduct legal research and produce opinion pieces.
• Support internal and global projects with legal input.
• Manage SaaS agreements, both procurement and sales, and understand related arrangements.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent qualification.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in commercial law, preferably in a law firm, in‑house counsel role or professional services environment.
• Admission as an attorney or advocate in South Africa (practising or non‑practising).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across senior and junior staff.

Required skills

• Expertise in commercial and contract law.
• Knowledge of Data Protection legislation.
• Understanding of Intellectual Property issues in professional services.
• Experience with SaaS contract negotiation and management.
• Legal research and opinion writing.
