Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Psychology Department

About the role

The Department of Psychology at the University of the Free State seeks a dynamic academic to join its faculty as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. This permanent position involves teaching, research, and community engagement on the Bloemfontein campus.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate and postgraduate psychology modules.
• Provide academic guidance and research supervision to postgraduate students.
• Offer clinical supervision for student psychologists’ case work.
• Initiate and conduct high‑quality research, contributing to the department’s scholarly output.
• Participate in curriculum development, programme review, and community‑engagement initiatives.
• Recruit senior students for postgraduate study and perform administrative duties.

Required profile

• PhD in Psychology (NQF Level 10) for a permanent appointment, or a Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) with a commitment to obtain a PhD within five years.
• At least two years of active registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Demonstrated teaching or facilitation experience at the tertiary level.
• Evidence of research potential or productivity, such as participation in research projects or strong master’s‑level research.
