Lecturer – Food & Beverage (Independent Contractor)

About the role

The institution is seeking an independent‑contract lecturer to teach Food and Beverage modules for its Diploma in Hospitality Management (Salt River Campus) and Higher Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism (Tygervalley Campus). The role involves designing and delivering lectures, workshops and practical sessions, as well as providing academic support to students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials and practical workshops for Food & Beverage subjects.
• Design, update and align course content, curricula and instructional materials with industry standards.
• Create and grade assessments, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate academic records.
• Offer academic advice, mentorship and timely responses to student inquiries.
• Contribute to curriculum review, ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and incorporate digital learning tools.
• Participate in professional development, research collaborations and departmental committees.
• Manage administrative duties such as attendance tracking, grading and reporting.
• Promote an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.

Required profile

• Degree at NQF level 7 in Hospitality with a specialization in Food & Beverage (non‑negotiable).
• Fine‑dining Food & Beverage management experience, preferably as a restaurant or outlet manager.
• Reliable transport for travel between Tygervalley and Salt River campuses.
• Prior lecturing experience (in‑person or online) is advantageous.
