About the role

The College of Accounting, part of the Faculty of Commerce at the University of Cape Town, is appointing two permanent full-time Lecturers in the Financial Reporting section. Appointments are intended to take effect on 1 January 2027 or shortly thereafter. The College is a centre of excellence in professional accounting education, with its Chartered Accountant (CA (SA)) programmes endorsed by SAICA.

Key responsibilities

• Teach at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level on the College's endorsed programmes.
• Engage in research and scholarship that benefits the College and the accounting profession.
• Perform related academic administrative tasks at College and/or Faculty level.
• Participate in College initiatives, especially those meeting the College's transformation objectives.

Required profile

• Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or as a member of ACCA.
• Demonstrable teaching ability and good presentation skills, evidenced for example by lecturing, tutoring, workshops, training and the creation of learning materials.
• An advantage: a relevant master's degree, teaching experience on a professional accounting programme, and experience in academic administration and leadership at course or departmental level.
