Learning & Development Specialist – Sugar Division

About the role

RCL Foods is seeking a Learning & Development Specialist to join its Sugar Division in Malelane. Reporting to the Learning & Development Manager, you will design, deliver and evaluate training programmes that support production excellence and employee growth.

Key responsibilities

• Compile, submit and implement the Sugar Production Training Plan.
• Oversee execution, track progress and maintain the skills matrix with line management.
• Conduct competency‑based training needs analysis to identify gaps.
• Develop training manuals, online modules and other course materials.
• Design and deliver technical training interventions, assess and moderate outcomes.
• Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness and produce monthly management reports.
• Organise training activities from planning through to reporting.
• Ensure learning records meet compliance requirements for BBBEE, SETA, Skills Development Act and tax legislation.
• Support HR onboarding and talent pipeline initiatives while controlling training costs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) plus a relevant technical tertiary qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in sugar manufacturing/production.
• Proven experience leading or supervising teams.
• Knowledge of sugar business processes, SOPs and basic engineering fundamentals.
• Passion for training, coaching and mentoring.
• Assessor/Moderator accreditation and a valid Code EB driver’s licence are advantageous.
