Lead Research Analyst with Russian

About the role

LSEG is hiring a Lead Research Analyst with Russian for its World-Check team in Cape Town. The role combines language skills, a journalistic approach and critical thinking to search and analyse publicly exposed persons (PEP), companies and institutions using reputable sources. The information supports clients' Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations and helps reduce financial or reputational risk from missed investments. The team is growing and is multilingual and multinational, working closely with colleagues in other locations. Presence in the Cape Town office is required at least three times a week.

Key responsibilities

• Research reputable media, government, regulatory and law enforcement sources to build and maintain data in LSEG applications
• Use open-source research methods to gather information in the public domain
• Identify regulatory and financial risks such as money laundering, fraud, organised crime, narcotics trafficking and corruption
• Stay up to date with guidelines and regulations to ensure accuracy and high quality of delivered work
• Collaborate with globally based teams on shared projects

Required profile

• Proficiency in English and Russian; any additional language is helpful
• Critical thinking, analytical skills and attention to detail
• Organisation skills and very good written and verbal communication
• Desirable: awareness of the socio-political context of the countries covered by your language skills, and KYC / anti-money laundering / financial crime knowledge and experience

Required skills

• Very good use of Microsoft Office
• Desirable: advanced Excel, coding languages and agentic AI
