Lead Process Engineer

About the role

The Water and Effluent Treatment department of Zecutive Consultants is seeking an ECSA‑registered Professional Engineer to lead process design and optimisation across municipal, industrial, mining and informal settlement projects. This senior position owns the full project life‑cycle, from feasibility and conceptual studies through detailed engineering, commissioning and plant optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and optimisation of complex water, wastewater and industrial effluent treatment systems, both greenfield and brownfield.
• Manage the complete project life‑cycle, producing technical documentation from concept to detailed engineering and overseeing commissioning.
• Develop and finalise core deliverables such as Mass and Energy Balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Drive innovative solutions in water reuse, wastewater recycling and biogas generation in constrained environments.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities to lower operating costs, enhance effluent quality and increase system reliability.
• Conduct process audits, option assessments and fitness‑for‑use studies for clients.
• Build and maintain relationships with key clients, market the department’s capabilities and support proposal preparation.

Required profile

• ECSA‑registered Professional Engineer (PrEng) with extensive experience in water and industrial process engineering.
• Proven leadership in multidisciplinary teams and full‑project delivery.
• Strong analytical mindset focused on sustainability and community impact.
