Lead EC&I Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer to head the electrical, control and instrumentation engineering function on mining, minerals processing and infrastructure projects based in Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the EC&I engineering discipline on EPCM mining and processing projects.
• Develop and review electrical, control and instrumentation design deliverables.
• Manage discipline engineering teams and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with project, client, industry and statutory requirements.
• Review and approve single‑line diagrams, load lists, motor lists, control philosophies, instrument indexes, cable schedules and technical specifications.
• Support procurement by evaluating vendor bids and reviewing supplier documentation.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, commissioning and handover phases.
• Manage project budgets, schedules and resource allocations for the EC&I discipline.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; professional registration (PR Eng/ECSA) preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical, control and instrumentation engineering, preferably in mining, minerals processing, EPCM or heavy industrial projects.
• Demonstrated leadership managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of IEC, SANS, IEEE and other relevant international standards.
