Lead Data Scientist – Advanced Analytics & Forensic AI

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to drive the development of advanced analytics, AI, and machine‑learning solutions that strengthen the Group’s financial crime risk management. You will lead the transformation of Forensic Services into an intelligence‑led, technology‑enabled function, delivering data‑driven insights that improve detection, prevention, and investigation of fraud.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement fraud intelligence solutions, proactive detection models and early‑warning systems.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit and Operations to identify emerging fraud trends and typologies.
• Champion ethical AI usage, explainable models, and governance over automated decision‑making.
• Own the end‑to‑end MLOps lifecycle on AWS and Databricks, including feature, training and inference pipelines.
• Develop and maintain forensic technology road‑maps, evaluate vendors and design future platform architectures.
• Provide architectural guidance for intake automation, case triage, workflow orchestration and reporting automation.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience leading data‑science initiatives in a financial‑services or forensic context.
• Proven track record of delivering AI‑driven fraud detection or risk‑management solutions.
• Strong understanding of ethical AI, bias monitoring and regulatory compliance.
