About the role
The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality is seeking four qualified Law Enforcement Officers (Grade 3) to maintain law and order across the municipality. Officers will respond to public complaints, support court proceedings, and provide visible policing during public events.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain law and order throughout Buffalo City and respond to written and dispatched public complaints.
- Operate control‑room duties, answering calls and dispatching officers via two‑way radio.
- Attend court proceedings to give evidence as a witness for arrests made in the officer’s presence.
- Conduct raids on Council property, apprehend perpetrators, and ensure the safety of municipal assets.
- Provide police visibility and public safety during protests, gatherings, and picketing events.
Required profile
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Metro college diploma.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- No criminal record.
- Firearm proficiency.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant law‑enforcement experience.
