About the role
SGS is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support its analytical services. The role involves operating and maintaining a range of instrumentation, ensuring timely and accurate analysis, and complying with quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Record, evaluate and validate data from LECO, ICP, XRF, AAS and Wet Chemistry instruments.
- Perform routine and non‑routine analytical operations, adhering to turnaround times.
- Assist senior staff in method validation and instrument qualification.
- Document repairs, maintenance, calibration and verification activities.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and SGS quality, health and safety protocols.
- Manage consumables and chemicals for analyses and support other laboratory areas as required.
Required profile
- Matriculation with Mathematics and Science.
- Minimum three years’ operational experience in a SANAS‑accredited (ISO 17025) laboratory.
- Experience with LIMS administration and instrument data reporting.
- Ability to work shifts and overtime when needed.
Required skills
- LECO, ICP, XRF, AAS and Wet Chemistry instrumentation.
- LIMS administration and operation.
- Sample preparation and fire assay techniques.
- Use of SLIMS data entry system.
