Laboratory Assistant – Constantiaberg

About the role

PathCare is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join its Constantiaberg branch. The role suits someone who shows a high level of ethics and integrity and consistently aligns with the PathCare values. Applicants must be registered with the HPCSA as a qualified Laboratory Assistant and be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens
• Distribute specimens and maintain acceptable turnaround time
• Prepare specimens
• Handle queries
• Ship specimens to reference laboratories

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• HPCSA registration as a qualified Laboratory Assistant
• Relevant experience in a busy specimen reception department
• Fluent English with an understanding of Afrikaans
• Acceptable performance record on technical and behavioural competencies
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays

Required skills

• Computer literacy
• Advantageous: handling challenging queries, sending and receiving samples via Meditech shipping batches, managing on-hold lists and incomplete reports, and providing telephonic results
• Client focus, attention to detail, initiative, problem-solving and teamwork under pressure
